A new baby for these two (and their several dogs!) in Ojai, Ca
I was especially honored to photograph this couple with their one month old baby girl because this little cutie is the granddaughter of one of my midwife colleagues! Nana, they call her. Mom and Dad are —clearly — beyond thrilled to be first time parents and expand their family in beautiful Ojai, California. Everyone, including the cats and dogs, played a vital role in creating a comfortable atmosphere. The adorable golden retriever sensed that this was a special day — he was hamming it up for the camera all afternoon. As an Ojai Birth Photographer, I am delighted to have documented such a joyous occasion.
We call this type of session a “lifestyle newborn session” which means we want you to feel relaxed and just be yourselves as much as possible. It means we will not pose you or the baby, and we definitely won’t put the baby in a basket and set up a bunch of lighting equipment. We want to capture your family as you are, enjoying these moments with your new baby, so while we might have you sit in a part of your house that gets good natural light, and we might ask you to hold baby between you, beyond that, we hope that you will just enjoy some time together and let us focus our lens on your family and your relationships.
