Why we do this work

Both Emily and Loren are passionate about birth and women and the amazing things their bodies can do. We want to celebrate not only all things birth and babies, but also moms and the process of giving birth, dad’s and their experiences, and all that comes together to create this season in your life with very young children.

As documentary photographers, our goal is to capture you, as you are, as much as possible. We hope that you will feel comfortable around us enough to just be yourselves, relax, and let us show you what this phase of your life looks like — the chaos and the exhaustion as much as the awe, love, and growing relationships.

Giving birth to a little human is raw, powerful, and deeply personal. At Ventura Birth Photography, we honor this by taking a quiet, documentary-style approach. We blend into the background, allowing your birth space to remain undisturbed while we capture the moments that matter most. From the first surges of labor to the incredible moment your baby enters the world—and all the small, in-between details of love and support— we document each and every birth story with authenticity and care. Many families tell us they hardly knew we were there—like a fly on the wall—yet we captured every moment, from the powerful instant of birth to the gentle, intimate touches of support, like a father rubbing his partner’s back. Our goal is to preserve both the big and small moments, so you can relive the beauty and emotion of your birth journey for years to come.
